  It’s awesome that even his lead singles, his commercial radio tracks reach out to you and are actually inspirational, unlike most people’s lead singles where they talk about fucking bitches and buying new cars.

  Honestly, I came on defsounds to do one thing, and that was to tell whitefolks to post this, and surprisingly it was already up, gj whitefolks, lupe is the goat of lyricists, I do feel like he dumbed this down for the radio though, but its still one of my fav songs to come out, lupe is the definition of hip-hop

Radio song for sure. I don’t wanna take away from Lupe but this is ok at best. The lyrics aren’t complex, a 13 year old could write better stuff. The production is ok. Not too creative. A sample should be innovative; although your’re sampling another’s work, it should sound like your own. Kanye would be the perfect example. He samples shit but makes it sound unique. I thought I was listening to Modest Mouse when I heard to hook. That’s just my opinion though. I don’t like radio music for this reason. Props to Lupe tho, he’s definitely hustlin’. Giving the people what they want.
