While out in London for the 2012 Wireless Festival, J.Cole brought some new bars out as he debuted a new verse.
“Nas and Hov at the same damn time… Pac and Big in the same damn mind”
Check out J.Cole’s freestyle below:
J. Cole >>>>
Dude is about to drop another classic I can feel it.
Unlike the genius convo, I gotta call you on this one. J. Cole’s first album wasn’t even close to a ‘classic’. A ‘solid debut’ at best.
The Warm Up is classic and so is FNL.
I never said his debut was classic.
Edit: And the only thing keeping the debut from being a classic is the label’s pressure to make Work Out, Can’t Get Enough, and the inclusion of old songs such as Lights Please and In the Morning.
That pressure won’t be there on his next project because he sold a ton of records.
Lol. Fair enough. Friday Night Lights was very dope. I guess it’s arguable in the mixtape category.
I agree label pressure made the album considerably less than it could’ve been. And it was obvious.
But I don’t know if that label pressure won’t be there this time around. I remember Cole saying that very thing in an article Defsounds posted not too long ago, but major labels are not to be trusted. When it comes to the come down, they might very well return to their old ways and force him to make “radio hits” again. His numbers exceeded expectations on his first album, but I wouldn’t go as far as to say he sold a ton.
I would. It was the 6th best selling rap album that came out last year.
Only people that sold more were Wayne, WTT, Royce/Em, Lupe and Drake.
And none of their albums were debut albums like Cole’s.
And Cole’s first week sales (for what it’s worth) sold more than Wiz, Lupe and Bad Meets Evil.
I don’t think Jay knew how much support Cole had, but he does now.
Word. You make some great points. When it’s all said and done, I hope Cole can deliver the album he wants to this time.
Yea I agree with the other dude…Wasn’t a CLASSIC in my eyes but IT was Close as hell. Also it was one of the best albums I heard last year. J Cole just really on another damn level, just hope we get some new music from him soon because the streets is DRY!!!..Well my Iphone is.
Oh and this Verse….MUuuuuuuuuuuuurDerrrrrrrrrrrrrrred It. And one more thing. FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS………….WAS A ‘CLASSIC’!!!!!!!!!!!
Check my reply below. I agree.
The Warm Up is the best mixtape in the last 4 years
lol people on hotnewhiphop was talkin bout how he dropped n then fell off like he wont spose to do a tour or his album? lol kids are retarded not only on here but even more so on other websites.
wow what the fuck. That shit wasnt that great. Just another common mainstream rapper. Not wack but definately not dope
You hate ANYONE that has any mainstream success.
Just STFU if you don’t know what you’re talking about. Common mainstream rapper with records like Lost Ones, Farewell, or It Won’t Be Long.
Rofl, I actually dont hate anyone, but almost everyone (like its my fault haha) is wack, gay or lame as fuck and idiots like u support that wack shit cause noone seems to listen to the lyrics and think about it smdh. I m not like u sitting infront of the computer and stfu if people tell me to do, I say what I think, this is my opinion and this shit wasnt anything special but neither did I say he sucks, its just common so calm the fuck down, stfu and let me post what ever the fuck I want. And I definately know what I m talkin bout.
Viz I like your comments, you know that. But also know that the reason I took the “common mainstream rapper” comment to heart is because I literally watched this dude grow from nothing to one of the biggest rappers out there while keeping shit real. Yeah, he was forced into making some pop records, but it worked out because the pop records flopped while his album was sold a lot.
Like, when’s the last time a young rapper achieved this level of mainstream success while still being able to spit some real shit like “Dollar and a Dream III,” “God’s Gift” or “Breakdown” and have the lyrics like on “Return of Simba.”
I’m telling you man. I can already see what Cole’s impact on Hip Hop will be because I’ve followed him since he was a kid and I know what type of artist he is. Maybe you won’t like a song, album or in this case, a verse, and that’s fine, but all stannery aside, he’s NOT a common mainstream rapper.
(I typed a lot. I feel like a loser now. Sorry).
No I didnt know that u like my comments lol.
Actually I only refered to his freestyle, which is nothing special to me. And I dont know anything/much about J. Cole or mainstream rap at all. I stoped listening to that shit years ago. (I only listen to some of that shit when its posted on Defsound)
But… cool story bro, lol. Maybe I ma give it a listen but I just dont fucks with that new shit, thats not my style and thats not the sound I like even tho I m 23 and people expecting me to listen to that kind of rap when I talk about rap..
I like most, if not all veteran posters that are still around.
But I’d give “It Won’t Be Long” a quick listen on youtube and see if it does anything for you. If not he just might not be your type of rapper.
BTW, Joe is thinking about bringing back the “Feature Presentation” project he was working on and I know he got a verse from your man Z-Ro so hopefully that works out.
You niggas jockin hard.
His mixtapes were good.
Debut wasn’t about shit.
Go ahead an hit the thumbs down, this website is bullshit anyway
it was mediocre, I used to watch videos like this and be like “GOT DAMN!!!” I’m not gonna say he fell off because of one verse, but he can definitely do better. and y’all can thumbs down deez nuts nigga
WHO DAT PIFF SHOE GAME IRE
