Once again folks are in denial. The song’s not bad but it’s not that good either. Average all around. The only reason you guys dig it is because you want so badly for X to be the old X and for a return to 90′s Hip Hop. This doesn’t sound like X. It sounds like a shell of X’s former self.

Just because he’s talking about pain and hardship doesn’t make it a good song. He’s been doing that for over 10 years. It was how he delivered it back in the day that made you feel it. That’s not the case here.

    It’s fine that DMX is staying true to himself. And yes, that’s a good thing (he always has, and that in itself is more than I can say for any other artist). But I don’t think this song is anything special. And I’ll never listen to it again because it does nothing for me. I think it’s weak in comparison to current ‘real talk’ music from other artists AND compared to DMX’s old music. It’s just not that good of a song, his flow isn’t nearly as crisp and it lacks the conviction and energy of his old music. It’s a mixtape song at best. That’s just my opinion. And if you like the song, that’s whasup. More power to you. But if you were to put this song next to his songs in his prime, I think you would agree this song pales in comparison. I don’t care if you like X. I like him too. But to say he hasn’t fallen off is to be in complete denial.

      I will NOT disagree with you. He is not as “Sharp or on it” like he once was, but what rapper his age is? Who is still in their prime after 15 years+ of rapping? Also we all know what DMX has and is still going through, so for him to still bring quality music like this out. I got nuttin but respect for the man. This shit is DOPER than mostly anything on the radio right now. Artists who are real, stay true to themselves, and to their fans always got “it” my book. That Nore jawn a few days back was crappy though, I also didn’t like the stupid Otis freestyle X did with Busta, so not like I am just on a DMX bandwagon. I know what the difference is between good shit and horrible wasted shit…

        I agree with you for the most part. Just keep in mind that being ‘real’ in music isn’t just talking about pain and hardship. The definition of being real in your music is being true to yourself and the way you live your life. So if a rapper is soft as shit in real life and he raps about soft ass shit, then he should be considered real. The definition of being ‘real’ and ‘true’ in the world of hip-hop isn’t accurate. I’m not saying this to accuse you, just saying that’s how we’ve come to define the world ‘real’ in hip-hop and it needs to change.
