Ja Rule: Never Had The Time

Ja… You are not Tupac!! Using the beat from “Changes” doesn’t bring you closer to the his legacy nor does it rebuild your own. I want to like a Ja Rule song when it lands on this website, but I am disappointed. It’s not just Ja Rule though, what used to be called “Rap” just doesn’t exist anymore. Hip-hop is this mechanism controlled and perfected by huge record companies (with $$$) that perpetuate the vices that seem most appealing to their audiences. Flaunting money, getting many women, and being hard! Period! It’s a win-win for them, they make a lot of money by having minorities portraying themselves like this and minorities are making themselves look bad (at least in society’s rubric of a dignified individual). It’s also intriguing to see how this ripples through people in their own community who will spend a larger percentage of their income (legit or not) on personal decoration of their “hard” character versus a more diversified approach. (covering the need vs want, investing, etc) Regardless… Ja sucks now. They need to stick 50 cent in there with him too.
