DMX Ft. Swizz Beatz: Its Over The Dog Is Back

I don’t prop shit based on how soft or hard it is. I prop shit based on the quality of the music. I’d prop most of the music from ‘It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot’ all day. 9 times out of 10 I prop most of Slaughterhouse. But at the I’ll prop Drake if the MUSIC is quality. This DMX song is whack to me. The beat is forgettable and the lyrics are basic as shit. I don’t get caught up in WHO makes the songs- I focus on the song itself. I’ll trash a song from J. Cole or Budden- my favorites- just the same as I’ll trash a song by Gucci Mane (never heard a song from dude I could even stand). Point blank. But I’m tired of ‘soft’ being the criteria for ‘good’ music. Who gives a fuck if DMX is talking about pain if the music is ass? I don’t. I said it before and I’ll say it again. If you don’t like a certain type of music- that’s your right. But there’s a difference between having your personal preference and knowing what good music is in general. I don’t like country, but that doesn’t mean all country is trash. Think about that. And I’ll also say that you and a lot of other people need to stop throwing out the word ‘real’ as if you know what it means because, according to the way you use it, you don’t.
