FIRE! It made me realize how much I miss her voice.
mjbII
I think I like it. 40′s production fits well with Aaliyah’s voice.
Prediction: There will be controversy and a semi-beef between Timberland and Drake because of Drake using unreleased Aaliyah vocals without Tim’s involvement. You guys have fun with all the articles about that one. Peace.
seanp
Wow.for the first time mjbll….said something nice about an artist, lol!!!!clap, clap…applause.applause!!! we obviously see who your bias for…and btw,the track was dope, but it wasn’t that nice…….
Hip-hop’s Caped Avenger
He <3's him some Drake. I thought I have already made that clear? lol
mjbII
Lol. COB did make that point not too long ago. I bang with Drake’s music. But COB can also attest to the fact that I bang with Joey and Crook. In fact, recently, I decided I consider Joey to be the best overall rapper in the game right now. Trust me, I say good things. I just don’t slobber over every track and call them all classics.
Hip-hop’s Caped Avenger
You don’t have to explain yourself to me fruit cake. lol
mjbII
Lol. Well, I had to explain it to seanp, I just threw it under your name by accident. Anyway COB, I want you to do me a solid. Will you listen to one Drake track of my choice and give me your opinion on it with as little bias and “soft-nigga bashing” as you can possibly muster? Lol. I Cuz deep down I don’t think you hate Drake as much as you say. I think what you really hate is the YMCB machine (which I can understand). So how about it? I give you a song and you rate it out of 10?
seanp
LOL!……See@ mjbll,im just tryin to see where your coming from, thats all! lol….Im from jersey so u know a bangs with Joey and slaughterhouse, and i like Drake too,and most of YCMB…..so dont jump on my neck like im coming at you….I just done thnk you give credit where credit is due(omg am I allowed to have an opinion,lol)…..
Hip-hop’s Caped Avenger
Hey I listened to this Aliyah song and thought is was great. Yes even with Drake in it. Isn’t that enough? I also liked Forever. Is that what it’s called? Probably because of the catchy hook and the Eminem verse. So Drake and Em made that track good. BUT sure I will listen to your Drake track as asked. I “Like” some Drake shit, you just won’t hear me bumping it, giving praise to it, and I definitely ain’t buying it. lol
Well when did he start singing for women? When Wayne and YM came into existence and started targeting the emotionally disturbed lol
mjbII
lol.
seanp
And another thng @mjbll…..now that were getting on our “explaining ourselves” tip this morning,If uve read my comments I never said any albums are CLASSIC on this site, all I said was Nas Life Is Good is pretty damn near close, and I stand by that, cause I bang it st8 through, and BTW that album is better than anything Drake ever put out! so you have a nice Morning!!!
mjbII
Lol. Fair enough. You know, I’ve been listening to Nas’ new joint consistently since the day it came out, and I will actually go ahead and bump my rating up from a 6 to a 1 7. That’s a strong album in my book. And it is by far the best hip hop album of the year so far. But I don’t think it’s better than ‘Take Care.’ I think they’re equal sonically, it’s just that obviously– based on the kind of music you prefer– you’re going to like the subject matter of one album more than the other. I can see how Nas would be more appealing to more traditional hip-hop fans. I like both for what they are.
vILLan the Stan
good thing im not WF cuz youd be banned for saying take care is better than Life is Good. talkin blasphemy bout Gods Son
mjbII
Didn’t say it was better. Equal but different.
mjbII
That’s the difference between me and a lot of people on this site. A lot of folks spend time comparing “God’s Son” to “Drizzy”. Me on the other hand, I just compare the music to the music. As I said, Take Care was great sonically. I don’t care if the person who made it is soft and sings and I don’t care that the person who made Life Is Good dropped one of the best hip hop albums ever and is considered Top 5 Dead or Alive.
If Soldier Boy came out with a legitimately dope and artistic track, most probably wouldn’t be able to give it props because they’re stuck on a name and an image. Not I. Good music is good music.
vILLan the Stan
w/e thats such a puss out answer anyway. you fence sitters are annoying
mjbII
No, but saying “that’s such a puss out answer” is the very definition of a puss out answer.
It appears that you lack the ability to be objective. It stands to reason why you like subpar music.

Don’t get in a scuffle with mjbll. He will out wit you with very well typed essays lol… J/p mj.
mjbII
Hell no you ain’t joking. Lol. We all know that’s true. I’ve accepted my role as the multisyllabic word using essay writer on defsounds. I try not to get pissed off and go on my rants… and I know that, more often than not, it’s futile to attempt to change minds on here. But I just can’t stand when people can’t be objective. It’s like if I couldn’t admit Drake was soft. That would piss people off. The dude is SOFT as balls! I know that. On the same note, I wish people could just keep it real and admit things like the fact that DMX makes garbage music now. But oh you “can’t” say that cuz he’s a legend. F outta here with that. I rock out to old DMX’s music just as much as the next dude, but when I hear garbage… I call it what it is.
[Another essay in the books]
seanp
I do think that So Far Gone,is a classic EP, because it showed how great Drake can really be,but i think we haven’t seen the best of Drake……and I agree its not Fair to compare Drake and Nas…to me Eminem,Nas, Jay-z are the greatest living rappers and are a notch above evryone else, and the rest of the MC’s just fall in line after…but thats not to say that artists like Drake,Kanye,Wayne,Ross can put out great work as well, and I think they are all the so called “leaders of the new school” if you will….also slaughterhouse i think has great potential as well…..
mjbII
Agreed. Accept for maybe the part about Ross. Dude makes bangers for sure, and he’s got a great flow and a great voice for rap… but the amount of nothing he talks about is unforgivable.
seanp
I can go with that….I think Take Care is right there, but theres only one song on there where he sings that i think is just ok….I think Life is good is Nas most complete album, where he didnt just cater to one audience, like his last three recrds
mjbII
I agree. It was a more complete album.
seanp
lol….thats ok Boss…..im sure mjbll dont need a spokesman…i get it,lol……
barz303
needs missy or timbaland
but its dope RIP Aaliyah
mjbII
Apparently the whole ‘How dare Drake do this without Timbo’ uproar has already begun. Someone on another site made a great point: If Andre 3K had done this exact same thing… everyone would be calling it the best song ever. So, so true.
I think it would have been nice for Timbo and/or Missy to be on the track as well, and maybe Drake should have reached out to them out of respect but… let’s keep in mind that these vocals have been around for ten years, and no one scooped them up.
Drake went and did something to honor his favorite artist (note that he made it Aaliyah feat. him, not the other way around). At the end of the day I think any artist, if given the chance to do something like this with their favorite deceased artist, would do so.
Thing is, 3 Stacks wouldn’t have even considered doing the track without Timbaland. & if he did, he would’ve definitely gotten Timbo’s consent first. But like you said, the vocals were sitting around, and if Drake got them then anyone could’ve.
YoungViz
DMX loved Aaliyah and he hates Drake. Disstrack incoming. Watch out.
mjbII
Lol. I can only hope and pray that we have better things to look forward to in hip-hop in the year 2012 than a DMX track dissing Drake. Real rap.
JUICY
drake might just run off and quit if that happens
jj

Hip-hop’s Caped Avenger

http://twitter.com/Way_Too_Cold David Latin
Still cant believe she gone
True2HipHop
Aaliyah on the track was dope. I barely knew drake was on the track he was just a waste of recorded space. The song itself was just alright, not her best but sounded refreshing to hear a new recording from her. R.I.P Aaliyah!
Nick88999
This is actually ill. And im a certified Drake hater but he kinda killed it……weird for me to say
