The first-week sales total for Wale’s The Gifted, which hit stores last week on June 25th are in, and the MMG rapper finds himself in the #1 spot on the Billboard charts.

According to Billboard, the Washington D.C. native earned his first #1 album as he sold 158k copies of his third studio album, The Gifted, in his opening sales week.

Although Wale scored his first #1 album, his first week sales have fallen off slightly from his 2011 release, Ambition, that moved 164k copies in its first sales week earning the #2 spot on the charts. The rapper would have topped the charts, but he had Justin Bieber in his way as the Canadian singer released his last album in the same week as Wale.

In other sales news: J.Cole bests Kanye West in their second week, holds onto the #2 spot.

Kanye West, who earned the #1 spot on the Billboard charts last week selling 327k copies of his new album, Yeezus, has fallen 80%, and has landed in the third spot on the charts, moving another 65k copies of his sixth studio album in his second sales week.

With Kanye moving another 65,000 copies of Yeezus, his 2-week sales total is 392,000.

J.Cole also had a big decline in sales as Born Sinner’s sales have fallen off 72%, but he did manage to best Kanye West and hold onto his #2 spot on the charts selling an additional 84,000 of his sophomore effort, bringing his 2-weeks sales total to just about 381,000.
