The Source Gives Kanye West’s “MBDTF” 5 Mics

Kanye West continues to garner critical acclaim for his latest album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Most recent praise comes from The Source, which gave the album its 5 Mic classic rating.

The Chicago rapper now joins an elite club of Hip Hop superstars like Jay-Z, Nas, Biggie, Ice Cube, OutKast, and most recently, Bun B, whose albums have also received 5 mics from the publication.

In reference to MBDTF, The Source states: We recognized the musical mastery.

The complete review of MDTF will be published in the year-end issue which features Rick Ross and Wiz Khalifa. The magazine hits newsstands December 14th.

  5 mics is a bit too much. I give it a 4. I just felt some of the songs were a bit over done. I thoroughly enjoyed the album, just that KanYe sometimes, tries sooooo hard that it actually works against him.
  
  Like for example, what was the point of extending Runaway with that retarded ass singing at the end? What was the point of having Fergie on All of the Lights? Rick Ross on Devil in a New Dress (So stupid), and blame game being almost 8 minutes long? And Monster and Hell of a Life weren’t all that for me either.
  
  Overall, 5 mics is over-rating the effort. 4 is complete justice.
  
  P.S. How/Why is HFM2 so slept on?! Shit’s banging.

album blows. People whined about drake with a ton of features but yet there is more than one feature on almost every single song. The only 2 good songs are the intro and All of the lights. The production saves it from being absolute ass.

Theres also basically only 11 songs. One is an interlude and the other is, i dont even know what to call it, but its def not a song.

College Dropout and Late Registration didnt but this does? I liked the album but its def not better than those two…then again, if they are rating this album in comparison to the garbage that is out now then hell give it 10 out of 5

Source did lose all credit a long long time ago haha, as far as Kanye getting the 5 mics, I feel like the album is more epic ( than any hip hop album i’ve heard in a while but I think ’5 mics’ means it should be flawless and with too many features and some weak verses, it’s just not perfect so 4/5 for me
