T.I., who has had his share of trouble with the law, most recently in 2009, the Atlanta rapper was sentenced to a year and a day in prison on a federal weapons change stemming from a 2007 arrest when he attempted to purchase machine guns and silencers, speaks on his stance on the current debate of gun controls laws.
During a recent interview with Hartford’s 93.7’s The Hot Morning Crew, in light of the Newtown tragedy, T.I. gave his opinion on the current gun control debate.
I think as much as we can afford to be in place, should be done. I think there should be some adjustments made to the criteria that must be made in order for you to be allowed to have [a gun].
As the Trouble Man continued, he adds:
I think the complete overall ban of firearms [is] a bad idea simply because if you do that, then you say the only people who are going to have guns, are the ones willing to break the law to keep them. That means you are putting the guns in the hands of only the criminals.
