Just a week after releasing his new album O.N.I.F.C., Wiz Khalifa alongside his family, which included pregnant fiancé Amber Rose visited Pittsburgh’s City Council Chambers for Wiz to accept an honor for being an ambassador for his hometown of Pittsburgh.

As reported by The Pittsburgh Post Gazette, the city council declared 12-12-12 to be “Wiz Khalifa Day” in Pittsburgh.

In front of a small private crowd, Wiz, a graduate of Pittsburgh Allderdice High School, in town for a concert at Consol Energy Center on Wednesday, gave a statement on receiving the honor.

Wiz exclaimed:

It means a lot to me, being a kid from Pittsburgh and riding the buses and going to school out here and just loving Pittsburgh so much.

The rapper added:

Even when I moved here when I was younger, I told people I was from Pittsburgh, and that was it. So, to come so far, and represent, and have everybody be proud of me — I don’t even feel like I’m doing that great. I can do better and better.

After the ceremony ended, Wiz spoke with reporters, and said:

I just feel like when I change people’s lives with my music, that’s the start. But when I start doing it with other things, then that’s when it’ll get bigger and better, so this is just the beginning.

Wiz Khalifa recently released his sophomore album, O.N.I.F.C., on December 4th, 2012.
