The nominations for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2013 are in, and two of Hip Hop’s most groundbreaking and controversial groups N.W.A. and Public Enemy have earned nods in their first year of eligibility.

With N.W.A. and Public Enemy earning nominations for the Hall, it will mark the first time two Hip Hop groups have earned nods on the same ballot.

If N.W.A. and Public Enemy are inducted, they will join Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Run-D.M.C. and the Beastie Boys as the only other Hip Hop acts in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

For the first time in Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame voting history, the general public gets to vote alongside the general voting body that consists of artists, historians and music industry insiders.

The Rock & Rock Hall Of Fame inductee ceremony takes place on April 18th, 2013 at the Nokia Theater Los Angeles.
