It looks like Lil Wayne has done it again, as HitsDailyDouble is reporting that the Young Money rappers’ latest release Tha Carter IV has sold an estimated 1,000,690 copies in it’s first week on store shelves and online retailers.

If the sales total holds true, Lil Wayne will become the second rapper behind Eminem to hit platinum status twice in a first sales week.

Def Sounds will keep you updated when the official numbers come in tomorrow, but one thing’s for sure is that Wayne will tally his 3rd overall #1 album with the latest edition to the Carter series.

Update:

Billboard comes through with the official Carter IV numbers via Nielson Soundscan, and it turns out Lil Wayne didnt quite hit the million sales mark, as the C4  fell just shy with a total of 964,000 copies sold in it’s first sales week.

Although Wayne didn’t hit A Milli, he did have the biggest sales week for a Hip-Hop album since he debuted with 1.01 million sales of  Tha Carter III in 2008.  Lil Wayne also has earned the second biggest debut of 2011 falling short of Lady Gaga’s  album Born This Way which moved 1.11 million copies  in it’s first week.
