As we previously reported back in January, Lil Boosie was scheduled to be released from prison on February 13th, which didn’t happen, but as of yesterday evening (March 5th), the Louisiana rapper is now a free man.

As reported by WFAB, after serving four years of an eight-year prison sentence, Lil Boosie was released from a Louisiana State Penitentiary last night at 7:10 pm.

Warden Burl Cain said Boosie was released from the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola at 7:10 pm where he was then transferred to a West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office where family members were waiting for him.

According to the report, although Boosie is now free, he’s not out of the legal system as he is scheduled to remain on parole until 2018.

Lil Boosie’s sentence stemmed from a 2008 parole violation for a third offense for possession of marijuana. Then, in 2011, Boosie pleaded guilty to attempting to smuggle drugs into prison, and was also hit with a first-degree murder charge, in which he was acquitted of in 2012.

On his way home from prison, Boosie spit his first freestyle as a free man, which you can check out below:
