In mid-2007 there were rumors flying around about friction inside the Dipset camp. Word was that most of the tension with-in the camp was between Cam’ron and Jim Jones. Soon after the rumors came to light, the talk of beef with-in Dipset was confirmed as Jim Jones and Juelz Santana appeared on stage at a concert with 50 Cent, who Cam’ron was currently engaged in a feud with at the time.
As the next couple of years passed, and everyone started going their own separates ways, it seemed like the Dipset run was truly over. But in 2010, Cam, Jimmy and Juelz surprised everyone as they announced that a reunion was in place, and the Dips eventually came back together as Jim Jones, Cam’ron, and Juelz Santana dropped a new single entitled “Salute.”
Since the release of “Salute,” there has been much talk of a reunion album, but it never came to fruition. Now, it seems like the possibility of a new Dipset album is back on as Juelz Santana addresses the reunion, and explains the hold-up, which he places the blame for mostly on himself.
During a recent interview with Funk Flex on Hot 97, Juelz Santana spoke on the possibility of a Dipset reunion album.
Juelz explained the reason behind the delay of the reunion album:
Shout out to Jim, shout out to Cam. I’m not going to even lie, at the time when we put out the “Salute” record, it was still at the time where I wasn’t doing a lot of music, just period. I wasn’t back in the zone that I needed to be in, musically, honestly.
Juelz adds that he’s back for good this time:
It’s not even about that project; I had the same way like – I took a break from everything. Like I told a lot of people, to all the people that reached out to me for records and things at certain times, I just wanna put it out there that Im back, send it to me. I’m getting it right back at you, I apologize for certain things. At the end of the day, it’s 2013, Im on that brand new.
As he continues to speak on the Dips project, he states:
Getting back to the Dipset project, I wasn’t really in my mojo to just sit down and just complete a Dipset project. In order to get it right, we’ve got to make it all the way right. That’s why I’m saying it is possible, because I know Cam is willing to do it, I’m sure Jim is willing to do it. I’ve always been willing to do it; it was just about me getting my music mojo back.
Juelz Santana is currently gearing up to release his new mixtape, God Will’n next week on January 14th.
