A Bronx, New York clothing designer named Dwayne Walker has filed suit against Jay-Z and his former Roc-A-Fella partners, alleging that they owe him $7 million in unpaid royalties for designing their famous label logo.
As reported by the NY Daily News, Walker filed a copyright infringement suit in a Manhattan courtroom yesterday.
According to the lawsuit, Walker created the logo in 1995 when the label was created, and he claims that he wasn’t properly compensated for his work.
The suit reads:
“The logo has become universally recognized as an iconic symbol of Jay-Z, one of the most successful recording artists in the history of popular music.”
As of press time, Jay-Z nor representatives of him and have responded to the suit.
