J. Cole’s “Cole World: The Sideline Story” Projected To Move 250K Copies In First Week

According to HitsDailyDouble, J. Cole is projected to sell 225 – 250K copies of his debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story, in it’s first sales week.

If the estimates hold true Cole will land the #1 spot on the Billboard charts, and it would be the biggest debut album for a solo artist since Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday.

  I never call albums classic, I can’t remember the last time i did i might have to go back to GRODT, but i think this one is. I think its the 2011 version of college dropout. Anyone whos not calling this album a classic will bite their tongue on the topic in 5 years. if youre saying you wont go back to this album 10 years from now and still bump it like its the first time youre either lying to yourself or you dont know good hip-hop

  The More you guys keep saying this album is a classic, the more it turns me off to it. Good Album.. Few of the songs don’t have much replay value, a few cheesy mainstream attempts at singles.. Other than that, I thought it was a pretty cool album, but some of you guys are going WAY over the top with the C word.

    the “C word” is subjective…this is the first album in god knows when where I can keep replay every song as many times as I want without it getting played out so that whole replay argument for me is going out of the window…as far as singles go, mr. nice watch definitely has good radio potential, especially since workout is doing pretty well on hot 97 here in NYC..keep in mind he’s trying to change the game not conform to it..I think this album will be appreciated later. too many people take pride in dismissing an album automatically to act like they know more than everyone else…if this isn’t a classic, it’s the closest thing we’ve had to one in a long time. it’s extremely well put together. maybe you guys don’t want to rate it a classic, but I do.

      I agree with everything you said… I am not a Cole fan and I usually agree with everything BigGhost says on his Blog, but I am sorry this album I must have replayed 5 times already. The shit is dope, and if it isn’t a classic it is damn near close to being one. I also don’t call many albums classics, but this is one album that I am calling a classic with a unbiased opinion…

the album was good. i bought two copies to support him. but it’s not a classic by any means. and yes i agree it’s the best rap album of the year, but that’s more so because rap albums this year mostly sucked. happy for cole regardless though. i think he will one day drop a true classic.

It’s an ok album, IMO. I listened to it a couple times and I’m pretty much over it. WTT was just more entertaining to me. Game’s album was blah, along with C4.

So of the four this would be second, but that’s by default, bc the other two were destined for the recycle bin (RED and C4).

Someone above said it best: You guys call EVERYTHING a classic these days. Was his album strong for a debut? Yes. Is Cole poised for greatness? Yes. Is he one of the best lyricists in the game right now? Yes. Did he do damn near the whole album by himself? Yes. But none of those things mean his album is a classic. It was a good start. And he’ll continue to get better. But relax. The album is not the 2011 equivilant of Illmatic, Blueprint or Aquemini. It’s not perfect or groundbreaking enough to be anything close to that. Let the album be the nice album that it is and chill.

I’m a Cole fan,…and ill say this, in the times we have today for hip hop this is considered the new age of hip hop classic/mainstream classic. sounds weird i know,…but if you compare it to timeless classics like mmlp, the Eminem show, black album 2pac’s discography it will fall weak,…to me an all time/timeless classic is where every track on the damn album is a banger,…as in imagine if Cole would come with an album where every track is like God’s gift or Rise and Shine and a couple tracks like daddy’s little girl and dollar and a dream III a real certified classic i don’t care for a balanced out album, with songs for ladies and radio single,…that’s if were talking about a certified timeless all time great classic album,…and those come 1 to 2 times a decade. “spoken like a real G”
