On Friday night, during the 2nd annual Vibe Impact Awards in L.A. as part of the Grammy weekend festivities, Nas was honored for “his lasting contribution to hip-hop” as he is celebrating the 20-year anniversary of Illmatic.

During the award show, J.Cole gave a speech dedicated to Nas, who he calls his idol.

J. Cole delivered a powerful and touching speech dedicated to one of his dear icons Nas in a small room of close friends and acquaintances of Nas himself . Nas was seated in the table just in front of the podium at Vibe magazine’s Awards ceremony during the Grammy Weekend Festivities.

Vibe‘s Jermaine Hall also spoke on honoring Nas with the Impact Award, as he stated:

“We didn’t want the VIBE Impact Awards to be a lifetime achievement award. We want to honor someone who has made a lasting contribution to hip-hop and will continue to do so in the future.”

Also during the Vibe Impact Awards, HipHollywood caught up with Nas and he reflected on the 20th Anniversary of Illmatic, and also gave credit to J.Cole for bringing the MC back.
