J. Cole’s debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story, released last week to seemingly nothing but positive reviews has debuted on the charts at #1 moving 217k copies in its 1st week on store shelves.

J.Cole moving 217,000 copies took the #1 spot away from Adele’s 21 which has been in the top spot, and Cole just beat out Blink 182’s comeback album Neighborhoods to sit atop the charts.

Cole took to Twitter to make the announcement, and to thank his fans.

Jay-Z congratulated Cole on the success of his debut album:

“J. Cole’s success is testament to amazing artist development and Cole’s hard work. I want to congratulate him on a #1 album and more importantly a great body of work.”

The Roc Nation rapper has announced that he is already at work on his sophomore album:

“Man, Cole World: The Sideline Story right now, but I’m already working on album number two. I’m on tour right now, I’m producing for other artists. It’s coming man. I got a long way to go, plan on being here for a long time.”
