As we reported in late 2010, former Bad Bay recording artist G-Dep confessed to a 17 year old unsolved murder.
At the time of the initial report, it was noted that Dep walked into the 25th Precinct in Harlem and confessed to killing a man almost two decades ago when he was 18 years-old. Dep told an officer at the precinct: I shot and killed someone 17 years ago.
Now, the former Bad Boy gives his first jailhouse interview and speaks on the reasoning behind turning himself in.
During the jailhouse interview, Dep stated:
“I don’t feel like I’m cheating life too much anymore. A lot of the burden is lifted, you know what I mean? And that was what I needed to do.”
After turning himself in, G.-Dep was charged with murder for the 1993 shooting, and was held without bail. The rapper was eventually convicted of second degree murder and is facing 15 years in prison to life as his case played out in the courtroom.
