As Def Sounds previously reported, Lil Wayne and Drake had confirmed that a collaborative album was in the works. Now it seems as if the idea of the joint album between the two Young Money rappers has been thrown out the window due to fact that it may be looked at as a competition with the Watch The Throne album.

In a recent interview with XXL Mag, Drake explains why the joint album with Tune Chi has been shelved:

“Me and Wayne scrapped the idea of a collaboration album. We just agreed that it would be looked upon as…It would be sort of this competition [with Watch The Throne]. I feel like it would get caught in this whirlwind of hype. [Wayne] agreed. We just said, ‘If we do it, we’ll do it down the line. But right now is not the time.’”

Although Wayne and Drake will not be releasing a collaborative project, Drizzy did recently announce the he will release a joint mixtape with Rick Ross.
