DMX has opened up about his personal problems, as he admits his past mistakes, and that he has been diagnosed with a bipolar disorder, and his struggle to stay away from drugs.

In an interview with Arizona’s ABC 15, DMX explained that he suffers from a bipolar disorder, which causes severe mood swings between mania and depression.

“I’m not the person the media portrays me to be. X is the bad guy. That’s not who I am. I’m not the person the media portrays me to be.”

He explains that X and Earl are 2 different people, but it’s hard to separate them at times:

“I used to be really clear on who was what and what characteristics each personality had. But I don’t know at this point. I’m not even sure there is a difference. I’m Earl when I’m with my children. I miss my children, I miss my children, I miss my children.”

As X continued he spoke on fighting his drug addiction, and he tries to fight it one day at a time:

“Every day. I start my day off with a prayer, as God to guide my steps. Cover me and keep me safe. Every album there’s a gospel song and a prayer. Every album, from the beginning.”

X added that instead of drugs music is his fix now now.

It’s been five years since DMX has released an album, but plans to release his seventh one at the end of the year as he is the process of working on his forthcoming LP, Redemption of the Beast, as it has been reported that X has been in the studio round the clock recording. In the past two weeks X has recorded 10 songs for the new album.
