DMX was released from prison just 2 weeks ago after serving a 7 month sentence is back in the lab working non-stop on his comeback album.
Billboard caught up with X, and he addressed working on his new album which is tentatively titled Redemption of a Beast, and with the release of the project he wants to bring Hip Hop back to its right place because as he says it’s too corny these days:
“I kind of took it back to how I felt on my first album — the hunger, the energy, the hardness of it. I’ve had a lot of late nights in the studio, getting it in, getting it back to where it’s supposed to be. [... The album will be] bringing hip-hop back to where it’s supposed to be. It’s not at a good place right now… [There's] a lot of whack rappers out there. It’s too corny.”
DMX says he has been working with producers like Swizz Beatz, Dame Grease and Caviar, but adds that he has mostly been at the studio working by himself while laying down rhymes
Also when asked if he will sign to Rick Ross’ Maybach Music he said:
“That remains to be seen, we’re still in the negotiating process.”
DMX hopes to release his new album Redemption of a Beast by years end.
