As previously reported by Def Sounds, DMX was arrested once again on Wednesday night after being pulled over in Arizona for allegedly surpassing 100 mph in a 65 mph zone with a suspended license. The Yonkers rapper was subsequently charged with reckless driving, driving with a suspended license and criminal speeding. Today, X’s publicist releases a statement addressing the arrest, and in a separate statement, DMX says he is suing the state of Arizona for constant harassment, and unfairly targeting him.
Domenick Nati, DMX’s publicist, has issued this statement on the arrest to The Source:
“This situation is being blown way out of proportion. DMX was in jail for approximately 1 hour. Also the report given by Sgt. Rudy Lujan of AHP, was exaggerated according to the people present. DMX does admit to driving at 85mph but not nearly at the speed that was suggested in the report. In response to the constant harassment by Arizona law enforcement, DMX says this, “God brought me to Phoenix and I’m not going to let no man run me and my family from our home!” Despite being under a microscope, DMX is doing everything he can to put his past criminal charges behind him and focus on music.” – Domenick Nati
In another statement issued by DMX to TMZ, he says he plans on suing the state of Arizona for unfairly targeting him for speeding and he that the claims of him driving more than 100 mph are exaggerated.
“I was going 85 miles per hour. I know for a fact I didn’t go more than 90. I’m used to driving fast, I’m a New Yorker, but I constantly look at the speedometer when I’m driving. I need to make sure I don’t drive too fast.”
X added that he plans to file a lawsuit against the state of Arizona for harassment:
“I plan on suing, and I plan on suing for harassment. I’m in discussions with multiple lawyers who are not afraid to go against the system in helping me clear my name because I have been harassed.”
