It’s that time of year again for Forbes to report on the richest rappers, and Diddy has been named the wealthiest rapper of 2012.

In 2007, 50 Cent linked up with Jay-Z and Diddy for the remix to his smash single “I Get Money (The Forbes 1-2-3 Billionaire Remix).” The song was a celebration of the artists’ ranking the top of the first-ever Forbes Hip-Hop Cash Kings list.

Now 5 years later them same 3 artists along with Dr.Dre and Birdman find themselves in an even more exclusive group, The Forbes Five, which is a short list of hip-hop’s wealthiest moguls.

To breakdown the difference between Hip Hop’s Cash King and The Forbes Five, which is similar in many ways… same editor, same access–but comes out every March/April and measures net worth instead of annual earnings. It’s also more focused in scope, zooming in on hip-hop’s five wealthiest moguls; Cash Kings ranks the top 20.

As Forbes reports, Diddy tops the list being the closest to hitting billionaire status with a net worth of $550 million. Jay-Z follows close behind in the number two spot with a $460 million net worth. Dr. Dre takes the third spot with a $270 million net worth, and rounding out the top 5 are Birdman with $125 million and 50 Cent with $110 million.
