The collective of Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul and Schoolboy Q plan to release a group project at the end of this year or the top of next year after all of their solo projects have been released.

Jay Rock released his debut album Follow Me Home yesterday already has plans for a Black Hippy group album.

In a recent interview with KarmaloopTV Jay Rock spoke on the project from the collective of Cali emcees:

“My insight on Black Hippy is that we’re up next man, we’re just four talented young brothers that’s doing this good music.”

Jay Rock added:

“Be on the look-out at the top of the year or end of this year, Black Hippy project. Schoolboy Q has his project coming, Ab-Soul has his project coming after that, so be on the look-out for Black Hippy after that, once everyone gets their individual projects out.”

Tech N9ne who signed Jay Rock to his Strange Music imprint, praised Black Hippy and calls them the new N.W.A., and wants to sign the whole group to the label:

“I remember I ran into Jay Rock and was like ‘Who is that dude on there rapping with you?’ I think that was how I met Kendrick Lamar. But seeing Jay Rock’s video was enough for me, I knew he was a MC and that he rolled with MC’s like Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Kendrick Lamar – Black Hippy. That’s the new N.W.A. to me. I’m trying to get my money up so I can get them all over here!”
