As Def Sounds previously reported, early this morning, Beanie Sigel was arrested in Delaware County, Pa for possession of drugs and a firearm. Sigel was scheduled to turn himself in on September 12th to start serving a 2 year bid on tax evasion charges, but due to the arrest he was taken into federal custody on a detainer and has begun serving his sentence.
As broken by XXL, Beanie Sigel’s lawyer, Fortunato N. Perri, gave a statement and revealed that federal authorities took the rapper into custody due to this mornings arrest and he has started to serve his two year sentence on tax evasion charges early.
Sigel’s lawyer gave a statement addressing Beans’ early incarceration:
“At this point, the Federal authorities will take him into custody and he’ll begin serving the sentence that he was going to start on September 12 anyway.”
Sigel’s lawyer adds:
“He had bail set on the new charges, but the Federal authorities have issued a detainer—a warrant, essentially—that will transfer him to Federal custody and he’ll start serving his sentence…we’re still reviewing the allegations and the circumstances of the arrest. I don’t don’t know a whole lot about the specifics at this point. We’re still reviewing specifics.”
