Just about two weeks before he has to turn himself in on September 12th to start his prison sentence for tax evasion, early this morning, Beanie Sigel was arrested in Delaware County for possession of drugs and a firearm.
As reported by ABC Action News 6 in Philly, Beanie Sigel was arrested following a traffic stop early Wednesday morning on Interstate 95 in Delaware County.
Around 3:15am, Pennsylvania State Troopers noticed a Ford Fusion swerving in and out its lane, and proceeded to pull the vehicle over, and the driver was ordered out of the vehicle. During a routine check for weapons, officers discovered several prescription bottles and a small amount of marijuana in the drivers possession.
After finding the prescription bottles and weed on the driver, identified as Gerald Andrews of Philadelphia, troopers focused on the passenger who was Beanie Sigel, and they ordered him out of the vehicle to search him.
During the search of Sigel, officers uncovered approximately $4,650 cash, a bottle of codeine syrup with a scratched off label, and several prescription pills wrapped in plastic bags located in a cigarette pack.
Both men were detained after troopers found the drugs on each of their persons, and the vehicle was subsequently searched where a firearm was discovered in the center counsel.
Beanie Sigel and the driver of the vehicle were both transported to Pennsylvania State Police barracks to be processed and arraigned on possession of drugs and firearm charges.
