Yesterday, 50 Cent stopped by Bootleg Kev’s show on Vegas’ Hot 97.5 and touched on multiple topics.
During their interview, 50 Cent spoke on Floyd Mayweather, who fights Miguel Cotto tonight.
Fif went on to speak about his still untitled, upcoming album, which is set for a July 2nd release and he says it has the same energy as GRODT, but there’s a different feeling to it, because he switched it up to to show his growth as an artist, as he’s thinking it out more when he’s writing and the LP will show the fans how he has developed growth wise.
50 also revealed that he has recorded 14 tracks for his upcoming Gangsta Grillz mixtape with DJ Drama.
As 50 continued, he touched on today’s music climate and says he misses the way emcees used to have to actually experience what they’re writing about, says now you don’t have to because it’s almost like a hipster vibe, “say something, if it sounds cool… okay, you got it.” But also showed love for new artists like Meek Mill, Joey Jihad and other Philly rappers who are writing about what they been through.
50 talks about Rick Ross, and beef in Hip Hop, “when you don’t see it spill in the street its simply Hip Hop,” and the last real beef was him and Ja.
50 addresses who he thinks is the King of NY, as he says he’s not really sure who the king is, but says he likes all of the new guys, but says they can work harder, because he believes once these artists sign a deal they think they made it, but says that’s not the case… it’s their chance to make it.
As the interview continued, he touched on the Mobb Deep situation, betting on the Mayweather fight, removing tattoos, 5 movies that he still has to release, and possibly starting a new mixtape series with the new G-Unit artists like Kidd Kidd, Paris and others.
He also gets into rumors of Lloyd Banks leaving G-Unit, and says “if he aint G-Unit, then what is he?”
As the interview wraps up he explains the reason why Interscope dropped G-Unit… It was because they were going to have to pay each G-Unit member $750k in advance for the next album, since the deal he put together for them was so good. Then he touches on reuniting with Game, and writing songs on The Documentary plus more.
