50 Cent Announces New “Gangsta Grillz” Mixtape With DJ Drama

You may remember last year that 50 Cent announced that he had a mixtape with DJ Drama in the works, but it never came to fruition. Now Fif has announced that he will finally release his first Gangsta Grillz tape, titled The Lost Tape. I’m guessing since the tape never dropped last year, 50 and Drama are calling this “The Lost Tape.”

50 Cent took to Twitter earlier today and revealed he will be dropping Gangsta Grillz: The Lost Tape with DJ Drama.

No other information was revealed at this time, but stay tuned to Def Sounds for an update when a release date is set.

When 50 first started rapping, he was hungry to make it. GRODT is an excellent album, because 50 was in an aggressive mode. He knew he had something to prove. After the huge success of GRODT, 50 got a taste of big money, and all he cared about was making more of it, so he just made mainstream radio bullshit for the masses. Does anyone really think 50 gives a fuck about the condition of hip-hop, or that he wants to make a contribution to it? I’m not calling him out for wanting to make money by rapping, he’d be an idiot if he didn’t, but he could still make the big bucks, and be true to who he was before GRODT. Nowadays, 50′s the definition of complacent. After GRODT, he lost his edge, and sold out. One good fucking album and he sold out! Lmao, at least Wayne made 2 good albums before he sold out.

  I hear you. Thing is, I don’t really think you can call it ‘selling out’ when money was his only ever his real motivation anyway. I mean, the CD is called ‘Get Rich or Die Trying.’ I think that says it all. 50′s number one goal has always been money. He was never a ‘hip-hop head in it for the consciousness and lyricism.’ So all he really lost was the hunger and the drive (not to mention his buzz, Dre & Em).
