J.Cole called up Angie Martinez on Hot 97 this afternoon, and he addressed his album debuting at #1.
yo i gotta android and defsounds freezes up every time i try to go on, it’s pretty fuckin wack, dont know if it’s my phone or the site
i have a droid and the same thing was happening on my phone today
its working on mine now, wasnt earlier today tho
I got droid 2 mine works fine
I know this aint got nothing to do with this and im going to get trashed. But @thomas you posted the dumbest list of classic albums I haver ever seen on the other j.cole post. You really had MBDTF on there and American Gangster and Hip-hop is dead how can you put hip-hop is dead and not the nigger album. IMO there has only been 4 classic albums in the past 10 years.

My definition of a classic album- The album has to be a perfect 10 every track on the album has to be great, you have to be able to play the album with out skipping one track if there is on bad track than the album should not even be considered a classic. a classic album is a album that will be heard 10,20,30,40 years from now. like they still have song’s from ready to die and all eyez on me in rotation at radio stations, MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice sold millions of records but do you hear any of there stuff anywhere any more unless it’s for a gag or joke.
I post this because I am sick of people throwing the classic word around everytime a big name artist drops an album a classic does not happing every time you look up it’s rare that’s why they call it a classic because it barely happens. The way some of you people use the word classic for hip-hop albums is retarded your abusing the word and don’t even have the knowledge of what it means, its almost like a fad now in hip-hop to call an album a classic, You don’t hear R&B fans yell classic eveytime someone drops or rock fans, but yet hip-hop fans want to think everything will be a classic because the majority of hip-hop artist are overrated and would not even have a record deal if it was still the 80’s-90’s era of hip-hop.
sorry for the rant, we need blogs back.
This is the list of classic album’s he posted that go made me rant. In anyones honest opinion can you really call all of these classic’s

I’m glad there’s no blogs so I didn’t have to read an extension of this pointless point you’re trying to make.
What he thinks is classic is classic, to him. I happen to think MBDTF is Kanye’s best album, ever. Are you gonna have a little fit and start foaming out the mouth now?
whoyou, the only reason my beautiful didnt get the recognition it deserved was because it leaked track by track too soon, and people considered it old shit by the time it released, it is without a doubt his most solid album, front to back not a song to skip, and thats my definition of a classic. and sorry to tell these kids on defsounds, but cole’s album has a few skippers.
Only Built For Cuban Linx 2 – Classic.
Hip Hop is Dead – Near classic.
lets see if someone can top this album so far its looking like album of the year to me at least. i can listen to the whole thing straight threw witout skipping a song
When will people start to realize that the word “classic” is subjective?
props. also, as someone who uses his iPod like its keeping him alive i gotta give a RIP to my man Steve Jobs.
I feel yall my whole point is most of those albums on that list people don’t even remember whats songs where on them. you remember with a classic. but like i said i espected to get trashed, because everytime defsounds post a new album is coming out by a big name star the word classic start coming out before the album drops.
God forgives, I don’t
Have all been called classics before song was ever heard and even when it drops and proves not be one they still call it classic.
tell me who said take care and god forgives, i dont will be classics so i can remove their testicles
I get the frustration because it undermines the undisputed, great music from other time periods. At the same time, I’m sure there’s tons of albums that are constantly labeled “classic” and I’ll most likely ALWAYS rather listen to Cole World instead of that album. Depending on when you grow up, how you feel about the music at that time, and how it impacts you when it drops, that’s what should constitute whether something is classic or not.
(Not calling Cole World a classic, it just dropped, I’m just using it as an example).
I know MM4(.5) is classic to me. Oh well.
“Say I’m from the new school, I’ma say check your tone and watch your mouth,
If they teaching the dougie, I’m condoning dropping out.”
-A couple bars from Budden da Gawd on the Shady cypher.
And Vill I just saw your comment on the other thread.
Didn’t mean to steal the term “subjective.” lol. It’s honestly just the word that came to mind first.
its all good homie, i was thinking “THANK YOU!” when i read your comment. i mean there really isnt any other word for it, it truly is based off personal preference aka subjective. this isnt math where you say 2+2 = 4 and theres no disputing it. thats what makes art, like music, so intriguing
*back to the topic* Cole album was a great album beginning to end. The long wait for the album was a help and with the leak still good numbers with 200,000+.
Hopefully we get the Kendrick collabo mixtape/EP they talked about
Definately a great album. J. Cole got them real raps. “Breakdown” “Nobodys Perfect” “Dolla and a dream” i still bang them tracks regularly. real life shyt.
